A few decades ago, it was not uncommon to see many homeowners have their own home bar, and many parties were hosted around these bars. Over the years, the trend seemed to disappear for a while, but today, with the high cost of going out for an evening, more and more people are opting for the home bars once again. Now, the bars people have in their homes are often as elaborate and handsome as those in actual night clubs and restaurants, and they are complete with bar rail molding, which gives them that beautiful finishing touch. Bar rail molding is great to finish off any type of bar, but did you also know that there are many other excellent uses for bar rail molding?
Add a Touch of Elegance to Any Room
When most of us think about bar rail molding, we think about the edging around a bar, a place to rest our arms and set down our drinks. But there are so many other great uses for bar rail molding that many people wouldn’t even consider, because it is just not something that is done every day. For instance, if you have a home entertainment area, it doesn’t have to look ultra modern like many do. In fact, you can design your entertainment unit to go with any furnishings in your home, and you can have your own built and finish it off with gorgeous bar rail molding. This will give the entertainment center a gorgeous, finished look, and turn what might ordinarily be a plain old entertainment cabinet into a piece of elegant furniture.
Bar rail molding doesn’t even have to be limited for use on furnishings either. You can use bar rail molding to make any room in your home look great. Use it as an addition beneath or above towel bars in the bathroom. Use it along ceilings instead of crown molding, or at the base of walls instead of baseboard molding, to add a touch of elegance to any room. You can even use bar rail molding on your stair rails to give them a really unique and beautiful look.

If you have a basement or spare room that you can use, it can easily be turned into a “party room”. Of course, you don’t just want to have any old party room. You want a room that is not only going to be a great place for get-togethers, but also one that is going to add a real touch of elegance to your home. The solution? Mahogany Bar Moulding.
To have a great looking bar, it needs to have the right type of finishing. Mahogany bar moulding is one of the best ways to do this. If you have ever thought about having your own bar in your home, you are not alone. This is something that is once again growing in popularity, probably due to the high cost of going out for a good time. It is much less expensive to entertain at home, and if you are going to entertain at home, then you need to do it right. Having a gorgeous bar will be the thing to set off any home bar area nicely. Now, what you need to finish off the bar nicely is some beautiful wood bar molding. While you’re at it, why not use the molding to decorate other parts of your home as well? You would be surprised at just how many uses there are for wood bar molding.
What Is Wood Bar Molding?
Have you ever been to a night club and leaned up against the bar, and found that it was actually quite comfortable to lean against? This is because the bar has been finished with wood bar molding. This molding provides a rounded edge around the bar, and makes it look incredibly attractive at the same time. There are many different types of wood used to create wood bar molding, with the most popular being red or white oak, poplar, cherry, mahogany and white maple. Whenever you are doing any kind of project, you have two major choices. You can use the pre-made items that may or may not fit the bill of what you are looking for or you can demand only the best by custom ordering the exact bar molding that you want to have. If you would be satisfied with what other people have created, the former is just fine. If you have discerning tastes and the vision for what your bar molding is going to look like on your finished home bar, then it is custom for you, all the way.
A custom order bar molding is more than just an attractive way to finish your home bar. It is a statement about what you will accept and what you will not. Ordering this way allows you to design your bar so that you are not stuck with the same size, shape or shade of bars that everyone else on your block has. Imagine that you have a sudden inspiration for the area in your basement, a triangular shaped bar comprised of two converging bar tops that meet in the middle and allows bar stools to face each other for easier conversation. You don’t just walk into the neighborhood hardware store or the big box do-it-yourself store and find those items on the shelves. You might have some choices in these places but you won’t find exactly what you were looking for. (more…)

Installing a beautiful mahogany bar rail is just the beginning rather than the end. You are not going to go through all of the hard work of making your choice and then just never go near it again. You create a home bar to use, hopefully to entertain friends and family and to enjoy quite frequently. While you put a lot of work and care into building it and it is common to have some tension at first, you should be able to relax at least a little bit. Your mahogany bar railing is not made of spider web; it is actually far more durable than you would think.
Mahogany, a very popular choice for such projects, is a term used for a number of different hardwood species and these days, refers to the color of the wood rather than the type of tree it is harvested from.
With proper care, your mahogany bar rail will last for many, many years and will remain a gleaming, beautiful addition to the home bar throughout the entire time. And while it is a hardwood, prized for its durability, it can be damaged if handled incorrectly. (more…)

A home bar is not just a place where you relax with drink night after night. It is a statement piece, an achievement of goals that not everyone can manage. For those who are able to actually have a home bar, there are many things they will do to make it the best that it possibly can be. The guy down the street has added a third tap to his home bar, so you have to one-up him. It is this spirit of competition that moves so many projects forward and it is the same here with this. You are now ready to reveal your crowning glory, the custom bar moulding for your home bar, that element that elevates it from watering hole to a grand home bar, worthy of anyone’s admiration.
Although there are dozens of woods that you could choose from for your bar moulding, you decided to go with oak, the mighty wood from a mighty tree. It is a hard wood, so it will be durable but it is also beautiful so you have the advantage of good looks as well.
Oak is nearly impossible to damage, making it an almost perfect choice for bar moulding in the home, standing up to even the most careless of visitors and elements. He has the piece custom ordered, shaped and cut from Rino’s Woodworking and then installs the beautiful bar moulding himself. Everyone who sees it agrees that he has made a fabulous choice and that he should be more than a little proud of himself for what he has accomplished. (more…)
